Re: Remember this anti-D&D bullshit?!
Fri, May 1, 2009 - 9:14 AMI watched this without sound. Seems like a decent production for 85. How do I put this?
One day I met a first level mage. He asked me if he was ready. I looked him up and down and said, "there are four elements and a bunch of spirits, go out and win"!
"But when should I return"?
"As soon as you get ripped off, creativity is scarce". -

Re: Remember this anti-D&D bullshit?!
Sat, May 2, 2009 - 9:44 AMWhat is even more terrifying than a game turning kids into delusional, homicidal maniacs? The fashion in 1985! Wow!
Seriously, though someone is always looking for something external to blame when something bad happens (D&D, Video games, violence on tv/movies). The whole thing is silly. It is quite obvious that these kids had problems BEFORE they started playing D&D. -

Re: Remember this anti-D&D bullshit?!
Thu, July 2, 2009 - 5:46 AMI used to play alot of A D &D, 2nd Ed, mostly in the 80's. I remember all the shit from people. It was such bullshit to me. JFC, people, I would think, it's just a game, that's all. it's not real. You're right, these kids were messed up in the head before they played D&D. The religious right just need a scapegoat.
I met this one dude in prison, we played D& D together ( no books, they didn't allow it) and he started talking about casting spells on people. I said, hey bro, this shit ain't real, it's just a game. No, he said, I can really do it. I got lines of magical force converging on my cell where I warp them into spells. I can pretty much do anything. I said, you're full of shit. How come you don't just whip yourself up some parole papers (LOL!) and me some too while your at it. He said, I tried, but other people are casting counter-spells and they're more powerful than me. HAHA
One time me and my freind took some torches to the storm drains under the city of Tulsa. After meandering turns and twists, we became disoriented ( perhaps the hit of acid played into that, lol) Then my freind drops the torch into the water, where it promptly floats away. pitch dark! AAiieee! My dungeons and dragons training got us out in the pitch dark without one wrong turn.
I miss D&D, but vidoe games have supplanted it. None so far can give the full do-anything experience of a dungeonmaster, tho. I'm playing oblivion, now, and it's a pretty good facsimile of it. Havn't had an actual d&d videogame that was any good yet. Oblivion doesn't allow for a party, just one character. I've been playing it for 6 months and aren't tired of it yet
A meandering post.
Thanks for the memories.
Dwarf needs food! lol
